Historia
Contains sketches made on the back of the drawing that served as the cover for The Caprices (see recto).
Análisis artístico
These two sketches in sanguine on the verso of the sheet of the preparatory drawing for engraving no. 1 of The Caprices show that Goya had initially intended to portray himself frontally. Thus, on two occasions, he twice sketches the face with a serious expression, concentrating essentially on the eyes and nose, while the mouth is sketched superficially.
