Análisis artístico
Manuela Álvarez Coiñas de Ferrer was the wife of Joaquín María Ferrer. Goya was in contact with the couple in Paris.
She appears here in half profile, with her body turned slightly to her right in such a way that her portrait and that of her husband would have faced each other. Her posture is rigid. She wears a tight-fitting black dress with a belt, and holds a closed fan in her right hand. Her hair, worn up, reveals her neck and accentuates the stateliness of the portrait.
