Historia

On the origin of this and other preparatory drawings for The Caprices, see the commentary on the first of them, corresponding to Caprice number 1 (Francisco de Goya y Lucientes, painter), and on the one corresponding to Caprice 3 (The bogeyman is Coming).

Análisis artístico

Goya produced the engraving remaining faithful to what he had sketched in the preparatory drawing for Caprice 25. If the pitcher broke. The posture of the figures is the same in both cases, as is the distribution of the objects in the scene, in which we can see the broken pitcher in the foreground and the two ropes on which the clothes hang a little further back.

Conservación

The drawing is in poor condition due to prolonged exposure to daylight, which has attacked the paper.
