Preparatory drawing for the Caprice 77. One another. For Matilla, the scene represents the abuses of the Nobility and the Church towards the weak people, which appear recurrently in Goya's work.
This drawing was reproduced in practically the same way in the engraving. The idea expressed by this scene is more or less the same as that of Caprice 56. Rising and falling, the caprices of fortune elevate or precipitate those who entrust themselves to it.
