Preparatory drawing of the print Another way of hunting on foot, which shows the moment when the bull is speared in the countryside and not in the arena. Here the men walk on foot and use clubs, as if in a trivial bull hunt.

The drawing, which is faithfully reproduced in the engraving, provides an excellent example of how Goya expresses the effort and muscular work required by the figures in the composition. The interplay of the legs of the two men, in their symmetrical opposition, gives the scene an extraordinary physical tension on either side of the bull, who is immobilised and on the point of death.
