See Young woman with forehead wearing a small hat.
It comes from the F. Koenings and van Beuningen collections. It is now in the Museum Boymans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
See Young woman with forehead wearing a small hat corresponding to the first drawing of the Sanlúcar Album or Album A.
Isolated figure of a woman raising her left arm, as if in a haughty pose. She hides her right arm under her shawl. Carderera identifies the figure with the Duchess of Alba in these terms: she is standing there, wrapped in a shawl, and raising one arm to give an order.
The authenticity of this drawing, like that on the reverse of the sheet Group of Shepherds, is questioned. Without rejecting Goya's hand outright, Gassier points out that the face is incorrect and notes that the paper used is thinner and has vertical laid edges and horizontal stippling, unlike the rest of the album, although this could be due to the fact that the drawing was made on the flyleaves, at the end or beginning of the album, where the paper is usually different. Sayre doubts its authenticity and suggests that it may be a faithful copy of the original. Mena, for his part, considers it to be an original and considers it to be a possible sketch from life for the portrait of The Duchess of Alba in white, dated 1795.
A copy is in the Lazaro Galdiano Foundation.
