See How the ancient Spaniards hunted bulls on horseback in the countryside
The print is part of the subgroup, within the group of "historical" scenes of bullfighting (Nos. 1-11), dedicated to the bullfighting of the Moors (Nos. 3-8 and 17), although Goya may have been inspired by bullfights held in Madrid during the time of Joseph Bonaparte in which Mamluk soldiers (Egyptian Muslims who belonged to the Napoleonic armies) took part.
On this occasion, unlike the previous ones, the scene takes place in an enclosure enclosed by a wooden barrier in the manner of a primitive bullring, with a few spectators looking out of it. The energetic, nervous-looking bull stands in the foreground with his back to the viewer, and the three men are arranged diagonally in different positions. The one in the background is seated on the ground, attracting the animal's attention, while the first one is fighting with a cape in his hands and his back to the bull, performing an "Aragonese-style" pass, which some authors say was invented by Pepe Hillo and which in this picture would seem anachronistic.
The sketch to the present print, also entitled Another one locked up, has been preserved.
